The second phase of the park reconstruction will fix this problem, I'm told. Believe that's pretty far down the road. Why not solve a tripping hazard on city property and eliminate an obstacle to people experiencing mobility problems? Could probably work with a temporary asphalt pathway, if future plans would only tear out a more expensive concrete slab. Mind you, the change in height between parts of a walkway can be no greater than 1/4" (1/2" if there's a a taper built in to the joint). Small wheels on the front of manual wheelchairs make bigger height changes or gaps real barriers.

Visited today and nothing has changed. This broken section of sidewalk keeps shoppers/diners from getting between the parking area and the sidewalk along Main St. imagine your aggravation if you parked, paid for parking, unloaded a wheelchair, and then found you couldn't get to Main or Mesa Verde except by going downhill and then back up Miles St.

Nothing has changed. Perhaps an explanatory sign by the handicapped parking pointing out that manual wheelchair users may not be able to reach Main St or the businesses adjacent to the parking lot unless they go down toward the Energy Park and then come back via the Miles St sidewalk. Understand it's too cold to pour concrete and the wrong time of the year for asphalt. Also pretty cold to have to wheel way out of one's way to reach Main Street because of an ADA violation.

It is unchanged. BTW, the Main Street sidewalk at the top of this walkway is concrete stamped with a brick pattern. The city pulled up all the real brick because individual bricks shifted and were a tripping hazard and an obstacle for the front wheels of wheelchairs. Somebody who did not consult with the Americans With Disabilities experts decided to pour a cement slab and then stamp it to look like bricks. Bricks--even pseudo bricks--create a vibration when a wheelchair runs over them that can be very painful, depending on the condition/disease of the person in a wheelchair. Unfortunately, the Fiske Park 2 project that will replace this camelback with a ramp with handrails decided that the stamped brick is outside of that project's area. So, the new ramp will have this bad rhymes-with-brick surface right at the top of the wheelchair ramp.
